Occupational Therapy at SSEC

The SSEC Occupational Therapists (OTs) focus on the student’s ability to access the school environment and to participate in the educational program by:

 

-Providing goals, activities, and services that support academic and non-academic outcomes

-Evaluating students’ strengths and needs in participation of meaningful school activities and routines

-Promoting successful student performance in the areas of personal care, student role/ interactive skills, processing skills, play, community integration, and written communication

-Reducing the barriers by providing strategies and activities for the classroom, home, and community

-Supporting successful post-school outcomes by developing programs and individualized strategies (plans/interventions) that address transition related needs

-Employing unique and creative interventions designed to improve student occupational performance including participating in everyday routines and activities

-Selecting modify and customize adaptive equipment and assistive technology to facilitate school access and participation
