AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL)
READS Staff

Wednesdays

February 27 - May 7, 2008
Place: READS Collaborative

105 East Grove St., Middleboro
6:30 - 8:30 PM

Cost: $125 per person each term; $100 each additional
family member each term (includes textbook)

PDPs - 30 (contingent upon 80% attendance)

Adult Beginner I - for those individuals with little or no prior sign language experience

Adult Beginner II - for those who have completed Adult Beginner I but are not ready for Intermediate

Intermediate/Conversational - for those who have completed beginner courses or who have completed at least two sign language classes. This class will focus on increasing vocabulary and developing conversational skills as well as offering the opportunity for hands-on utilization of sign skills and conversations with the Deaf.

Class Goals: To introduce students to American Sign Language (ASL) and the culture of Deaf Americans. Students will learn basic vocabulary, use of body language, and aspects of Deaf culture that affect the use of language.

Please note: Pre-registration and pre-payment are required for all ASL classes. In case of inclement weather, class will be cancelled if the Middleboro Public Schools are closed - stay tuned to local TV/radio broadcasts.
