Center for Professional Development
Professional
Development services are provided for teachers and administrators of
Collaborative and member school districts. The areas covered include
both special education and regular education. The focus of
professional development is on specific topics identified by personnel.
Seminars and workshops are provided to staff throughout the year at various
locations within member school districts, and at its location
in Hingham, MA.
In addition,
the Collaborative coordinates and provides professional development services
for the South Shore High School Alliance. A professional development
committee comprised of a teacher from each district high school determines the
topics, activities, and delivery system for the Alliance. The
Collaborative is the vehicle that provides the teacher and higher education
instructed seminars and workshops for 1500 high school teachers.
Another service for school districts is the Professional
Development Council. The Council is comprised of Assistant Superintendents for
and/or Directors of Curriculum and Instruction. The purpose of this group is
to provide professional development activities that school districts are
unable to financially provide on their own. Further, the Council reviews and
selects professional development topics which are timely, and that have a
significant impact on instruction.
